About The Project
Located on the highly visible corner of Highway 16 and Catron Boulevard in Rapid City, South Dakota, the Buffalo Crossing building is the new headquarters for Security First Bank.
The facility is a three-story building over a partial basement, and it features a
three-story lobby/atrium area as well as multiple green roof spaces that are accessible to staff and patrons. The building consolidates multiple administrative and executive offices into one facility while providing stunning views of the Black Hills from many of its executive suites.
Structural steel was chosen as the main framing system due to the complex building geometry and layout. The facility is supported on cast-in-place concrete foundations, and composite concrete floor slabs are supported by steel beam and column framing. The elevator core is precast concrete. The exterior walls of the building are non-bearing light-gage metal studs with plywood sheathing.
